ALERT - FRIDAY 23 MARCH 2012 - BREAK & ENTER
Posted on 20:07 by Unknown
Please be vigilant is someone asks for directions - they are more than likely casing the area.
There has been a spate of robberies over the last few weeks and particularly the last few days targeting the Grange area and also Laurel Hills Estate - Maiden Hair Place this morning and Fern Tree Gully Drive yesterday.
Cars are usually stolen but still take as many details as possible including number plates, appearance of those in car if possible etc, you all know the drill. Every little detail can assist in an eventual apprehension.

Educate, Empower, Protect Our Kids

Bravehearts is Australia’s leading child protection advocacy group. Founded by Hetty Johnston in 1997, and operating nationally from Queensland, 2012 marks the 16th Anniversary of Bravehearts national awareness day White Balloon Day on September 7th. Bravehearts is the only Australian children’s charity holistically dedicated to the issue of child sexual assault, and has evolved into an organisation whose purpose is to provide therapeutic support and advocacy services to survivors of child sexual assault. Bravehearts is forging a movement for change in how child sexual assault is dealt with by the criminal justice sector, government institutions, churches and the community at large.
Bravehearts currently provide counselling services to hundreds of children a year (with a long waiting list due to limited funds) at a cost of nearly half a million dollars per annum. As well as supporting survivors of child sexual assault, Bravehearts is unique in that they also focus on prevention (through the education campaign) and early intervention, as well as healing and activism.
Bravehearts is Australia’s leader in child protection and we deal exclusively with children who have been sexually assaulted. As a charity organisation we rely very heavily on business and community support to ensure we can continue delivering our school based prevention programs as well as counselling, support and advocacy for survivors of child sexual assault. It is only through increasing awareness, preventative strategies and education that we can collectively reduce the incidence of this insidious crime. Our specialist counselling services are instrumental in giving hope and healing to our most vulnerable and precious members of our community, our children.
If you have any questions about child sexual assault contact Bravehearts
on 1800 BRAVE1 (1800 272 631).
Think of 5 children you know & Love.
Statistically, at least one of them has been or could be sexually assaulted before the age of 18. (Australian Institute of Criminology)
Help us make Australia the safest place in the world to raise A child.

ALERT - Thieves back in Willow Vale, 8 March 2012
Posted on 02:25 by Unknown
We need to be on the alert again, a burglary was committed today at around 11.30 am -
one person knocks on the door and if someone is home just asks directions - at least 3 in car.
They stopped at other houses on Blacks Road then drove up the driveway to another house where they knocked again, unfortunately the owners weren’t home. They moved the car and all got out. Within 15 minutes they were gone after smashing their way in and stealing jewellery, TV’s and laptops.
So please let as many people you know to be vigilant, they have now changed tactics by asking for directions if you are home, if not it is all systems go!
We need residents to keep and eye out for strangers etc. and call Coomera Police
5519 5555 if they see anything.
Neighbourhood Watch – How can it help you?

NHW is designed for people in the community to work together to help fight and deter crime in your local area. An effective NHW will have communication lines set up to advise residents of crime trends in the area or things to be on the look out for. A positive community spirit can result in residents being aware of who your neighbours are and to watch out for and report suspicious behaviour that can protect resident’s property. An active NHW area can deter criminals from committing offences in your area due to the higher risk of detection. Some insurance companies also give a discount to policy holders whose residence is in a NHW area. NHW can also assist as a voice to your local council to get them to quickly fix community amenities or other problems that the council have the ability to assist with.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You can start to be involved by joining our email group. Please send an email requesting to be added to the NHW mailing list. You can then receive current & relevant information that may assist you from being a victim of crime such as:
- Warnings of what & where crime has been committed our area.
- Advice of suspect persons/vehicles in your area
- What cars have been recently stolen
- Forwarded Police information such as crime alerts
- Share information with other residents about suspicious behaviour or persons to be aware of in your area that can prevent you from becoming a victim
- NHW newsletters
Our Emails are sent out Bcc: so your email address cannot be used for junk emails. However if you are still concerned about giving out your email address, create an email address just to receive emails from NHW. (email addresses can easily be created on line such as with hotmail, gmail to name a few)
You can also attend NHW meetings that are held around five times per year. At these meetings crime problems are not the only subjects discussed. Our meetings often have a guest speaker and previous topics discussed have been such as how to avoid being a victim of fraud, security alarm systems. Our meetings are regularly attended by your local Gold Coast Councillor Donna Gates as well as local MP’s. This is an excellent opportunity for you to raise problems with infrastructure such as broken park equipment or paving. From experience problems raised to the councillor generally get resolved very quickly.
