THE FOLLOWING IS HAPPENING IN MANY AREAS AT PRESENT, PLEASE BE ALERT AND NOTIFY POLICE SHOULD THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.

Yesterday a lady called Jackie posted on the Oxenford NHW Community Page, as follows:
"We had a knock on our door last night from a suspicious person with a dog asking if the dog was ours. She seemed to be trying to get a really good look inside our house. We actually have 3 dogs which were barking at her at the time. She was a teen with long brown hair, skimpy clothing and was rude enough to blow a big puff of her cigarette smoke into our house. She was obviously mapping our street to see who is home and who is on holiday's.....be on the look out, we live in Pacific Pines and back onto Binstead Way. We had an attempted break in at our house around 4 months ago and the robber's successfully entered our neighbour's house and stole goods. We have alerted police and hopefully will be getting some extra patrols."

This post went 'viral’ with over 500 'shares' and many comments. It seems this type of m.o. by 1 or 2 teen girls (often with a dog) is happening in Ormeau, Highland Park, Helensvale and in Upper Coomera too (behind St Stephen's College) - for example Tina in Upper Coomera posted as follows:
"We actually had 2 teenage girls knock on our door last night (7/1/13) at about 11:30pm asking for directions out of our street as apparently they had been in trouble with the police... They seemed quite odd as well but I live in Upper Coomera behind St Stephens college."

A lady called Judy - living in Northfolk Village - Ormeau posted:
"I just wanted to share this because I could have written this myself and I am in Ormeau. A girl with the exact same description knocked on my door about a week ago and asked exactly the same thing. However I didn't report it cause I didn't think too much of it at the time....."

Rebekah in Highland Park posted:
“Last week a girl about 16 or 17 come down my steep driveway asking if she could wash my car.. I was at the back if the house at the time vaccumming and my front door was closed but she had continued to knock, I answered and she asked if she could wash my car, I seemed a bit puzzled and said no, my car was parked down by the front door about 5 feet from the door, she stopped, went right up to my car after I said no and cupped her hands around her face to see in my tinted windows right up close. I asked what she was doing but she walked away. I've never seen her in my street before and I thought it was weird so I actually mentioned it to some other people. But strange for a girl of that age to be asking if people want their cars washed? This was actually in Highland Park .”

Police are aware of these incidents.
